What To Expect

Trauma Therapy

When you seek EMDR therapy, your desired outcomes might include feeling less burdened by past traumas or distressing memories. You might hope to process and make sense of these experiences so that they no longer have such a strong emotional impact on your daily life. This means you could experience fewer symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, or intrusive thoughts.

The goal is to feel more at ease and less affected by memories that once felt overwhelming. By addressing and processing past experiences through EMDR, you aim to move forward with less emotional baggage, allowing you to live more freely and fully in the present. As a result, you might notice an improvement in your overall sense of well-being and be able to engage more fully in your current life and relationships like never before.

Anxiety Therapy

In therapy, you’re likely hoping to achieve a sense of relief from the constant grip of anxiety. You might want to find ways to feel more grounded and less affected by everyday stressors. The goal is to gain effective strategies for managing anxiety so that you can respond to challenges with a greater sense of control and calm.

Another key outcome you might be looking for is an increase in your confidence. As you learn and apply new techniques, you’ll likely start feeling more capable of handling anxious moments and tackling situations that previously felt overwhelming. This newfound confidence can extend into various areas of your life, allowing you to engage more fully with activities and relationships.

EMDR Therapy For Anxiety

If you struggle with anxiety, your mind and body may feel stuck in “survival mode.” Even when you logically know you’re safe, your nervous system can continue reacting as if danger is still present. That’s where Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can help.

EMDR is a therapy approach designed to help the brain process distressing experiences that may be contributing to anxiety symptoms. While EMDR is widely known for treating trauma, it can also be highly effective for anxiety, panic, chronic worry, social anxiety, performance anxiety, and stress-related symptoms.

During EMDR therapy, we identify experiences, beliefs, or triggers that may be keeping your nervous system on high alert. Using structured techniques that involve bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds the brain is supported in reprocessing those experiences in a healthier, less emotionally overwhelming way.

Many people with anxiety carry underlying beliefs such as:

  • “I’m not safe.”

  • “I’m not good enough.”

  • “Something bad is going to happen.”

  • “I have to stay in control at all times.”

EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity connected to these beliefs and experiences so they no longer feel as activating in daily life. Clients often report that situations that once triggered panic, overthinking, or physical anxiety begin to feel more manageable and less emotionally charged.

EMDR does not require clients to talk in detail about every painful experience, and sessions are paced carefully to support emotional safety and stability. Treatment often includes learning grounding skills and nervous system regulation strategies before deeper processing begins.
