  • Processing Traumatic Memories: An EMDR therapist uses specific techniques to help you process and make sense of traumatic memories. This involves gently guiding you through these memories so they become less distressing and more manageable.

  • Reducing Emotional Intensity: By addressing how traumatic events are stored in your brain, EMDR therapy can reduce the emotional intensity associated with these memories. This means you can experience fewer negative emotions and more peace.

  • Managing Anxiety and Stress: An EMDR therapist works to identify and address the root causes of your anxiety and stress. Through targeted sessions, you can learn to manage these feelings more effectively and reduce their impact on your daily life.

  • Enhancing Emotional Regulation: EMDR therapy helps you develop better emotional regulation skills. By reprocessing distressing experiences, you can gain greater control over your emotional responses and react more calmly to stressors.

  • Improving Self-Perception: Traumatic experiences can affect how you view yourself. An EMDR therapist helps to reframe these negative self-beliefs, leading to improved self-esteem and a more positive self-image.

  • Facilitating Personal Growth: By addressing and resolving past traumas, EMDR therapy clears the way for personal growth and development. You’ll be able to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.

  • Creating a Safe Space: An EMDR therapist provides a compassionate and supportive environment where you can explore difficult emotions and experiences. This safe space is crucial for effective therapy and healing.

How I Can Help You

Hey there, I am Shadell Padmore. As a therapist with a Jamaican background, I bring a unique cultural perspective and deep empathy to our work together. I understand that everyone's journey is different, and I am here to provide a compassionate, supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. My goal is to work with you in a way that respects your personal experiences and cultural context, helping you navigate and heal from past trauma. I obtained a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Gonzaga University. I am also a LGBTQ+ ally and believe everyone deserves a space where they can be themselves. Outside of being a therapist, I am a human being just like you. In my free time you can find me hiking, traveling, camping, watching sports, and playing video games with friends.

Using EMDR therapy, I offer a gentle yet effective approach to help you process and reframe difficult memories. This method allows us to address the root of your distress, so you can move forward with greater ease and clarity. Whether we’re working through specific events or ongoing feelings, my aim is to support you in finding relief and a renewed sense of well-being, all while honoring your unique story and background. In addition to individual sessions, I offer EMDR intensives for those who seek a more concentrated approach. These sessions are tailored to dive deeper into specific issues in a shorter timeframe, providing a more focused path to healing. My aim is to support you every step of the way, ensuring that your progress is meaningful and that you feel genuinely supported throughout the process.
